At D23 Expo 2022 this weekend, Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Chairman Josh D’Amaro shared many exciting announcements and updates for various projects in development at the Disneyland Resort.
Here’s everything you need to know, plus a bonus announcement and some extra details to keep the buzz going!
The Mandalorian and Grogu Coming to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland Park
Since opening Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in 2019, Star Wars storytelling has expanded to include more new characters and tales from that galaxy far, far away. At Disneyland Resort, some of those new stories were incorporated in the land earlier this year with legendary bounty hunter Boba Fett and mercenary Fennec Shand. Today, it was announced that The Mandalorian and Grogu will make their first appearance on Batuu at Disneyland park starting in mid-November.
New Heroes (and Villains) Coming to Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure Park, Plus All-New Details on a Future Attraction
More than 35 different characters have already made appearances in Avengers Campus in Disney California Adventure park since it opened last year. Meeting and interacting with these larger-than-life characters is part of what makes Avengers Campus so epic.
Beginning next week for a limited time, you may have the opportunity to have your own heroic encounter with The Incredible Hulk, who will appear in his Quantum Suit inside Avengers Campus.
And as Avengers Campus expands into the multiverse, so do its possibilities!
During the Legends Ceremony at D23 Expo on Friday, Sept. 9, Disney CEO Bob Chapek announced Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure will be expanding with a third attraction featuring a brand-new story that will bring guests into battle alongside their favorite Super Heroes. Today, Josh D’Amaro and President of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, shared details around the third attraction that will be coming to Disneyland Resort in the future.
Avengers Campus will expand into the multiverse, which will also expand the stories we can tell inside the land.
The new concept for this attraction will be an epic family adventure, where you’ll get to team up with more of the Avengers and their allies to battle against foes from the multiverse, including King Thanos, a villain designed specifically for Avengers Campus.
Pacific Wharf in Disney California Adventure Park to Be Reimagined into San Fransokyo from “Big Hero 6”
Pacific Wharf in Disney California Adventure park, which evokes San Francisco’s waterfront, will be reimagined into San Fransokyo from “Big Hero 6,” where East meets West, and technology meets tradition. Imagineers are in the early phases of this work, but you can see glimpses of what’s to come for children of all ages – the young and young at heart. There will be a place to meet Baymax, plus new spots to eat and shop!
Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel to Become Pixar Place Hotel, Featuring Great Maple Food and Beverages
As previously announced, we are reimagining Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel with a Pixar theme. Today we shared that it will be called Pixar Place Hotel.
The hotel will weave the artistry of Pixar into its comfortable, contemporary setting, including fantastic areas for everyone to enjoy, like this “Finding Nemo”-themed splash pad area.
And even more news we are thrilled to share here on the Disney Parks Blog first – fans of fried chicken and maple bacon donuts, rejoice! We will welcome the team from Southern California local favorite Great Maple, which will open a flagship restaurant on the first floor and operate other food and beverage locations throughout Pixar Place Hotel. This modern American eatery specializes in upscale comfort food with a twist, serving fresh takes on American classics for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Evolution of the Downtown Disney District Continues with Additional Food Offerings to Come
In the Downtown Disney District, there are plans to introduce more than a dozen new and reimagined locations.
Earlier this year we announced Din Tai Fung, a world-renowned Asian restaurant that originated in Taiwan and specializes in soup dumplings, will join the district with its authentic cuisine. Here’s a look at new concept art for this space.
Additionally, Porto’s Bakery and Café, an iconic Southern California destination known across the country for its sweet pastries and desserts, as well as delicious California –Cuban-inspired dishes, will be coming to the Downtown Disney District in the future!

New Details on Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway and Mickey’s Toontown, Opening in Early 2023
As we’ve previously shared, an ambitious transformation of Mickey’s Toontown in Disneyland park is underway. The neighborhood that Mickey Mouse and friends call home will reopen as a vibrant symphony of sights, sounds and sensations. The reimagined land will feature some all-new experiences and interactive play for guests, with a focus on family and young children.
Coming to Mickey’s Toontown will be a new attraction, the family-friendly and adventurous Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway. Disney Imagineers are making some clever adjustments to the attraction to ensure it perfectly fits into the story of Mickey’s Toontown.
Today, we shared a closer look inside the El CapiTOON Theater, where a special exhibit created by the Toontown Hysterical Society is celebrating all things Mickey with costumes and props from the toon world.
The exhibit features several items guests may recognize from classics including “Steamboat Willie” and “Plane Crazy”…
…all the way through more modern favorites such as “Mickey’s Christmas Carol” and iconic music releases.
And building on the legacy of Mickey’s Toontown, upon reopening the land there will be more opportunities for families to play together, with new open, grassy play spaces for everyone to unplug. We are stepping into a new era of inclusive experiences in this land, for families of all ages.
Here’s a look at Goofy’s How-to-Play Yard. Goofy’s neck of the woods will be dedicated to all things play, where the soft, spongy ground is the perfect place for youngsters to enjoy a fun, enclosed area. Here, Goofy encourages his son, Max, and all his friends to play the Goofy way.
Within this rendering of the brand-new Goofy’s How-To-Play Yard, you can see one of its silliest areas – a playful sound garden. Adults can take a rest while their little ones discover all the fun and wacky sounds the garden makes. They’ll also have a chance to explore an all-new, elevated clubhouse.
Inside his house, Goofy has set up a candy-making contraption that only he could imagine.
Here you see Donald’s Boat, which has crashed in the duck pond of the Goof homestead! Around Donald’s Duck Pond are larger-than-life spinning water lilies, balance beams and rocking toys that will keep adventurous kids busy. And for those who like a little splash in their step, a flood of fun awaits.
These new experiences will join existing favorites like Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin, Mickey’s House and Minnie’s House. Plus, other attractions will be reimagined in new and exciting ways, including Gadget’s Go Coaster. Mickey’s Toontown will reopen in early 2023.
New Details on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, Coming to Disneyland Park in Late 2024
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will open at the Disneyland Resort (and Walt Disney World Resort) in late 2024. The new attraction’s story will pick up right where “The Princess and the Frog” left off. At the end of the film, Princess Tiana realizes her lifelong dream when she opens her restaurant, Tiana’s Palace. We pick up the story during Carnival season, when Tiana is hosting a party for the people of New Orleans. She discovers her celebration is missing a key ingredient and needs our help to find it. On Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, we’ll join Tiana and Louis on a trip to the bayou, where they meet all sorts of unexpected new friends who have a special role to play at the party.
The attraction will get a whole new look and feel. Plus, Imagineers are blending tried-and-true techniques with the latest technology to make this feel like an entirely new attraction.
Additionally, it was announced that talented voices from the film will reprise their roles in the attraction, including Bruno Campos as Prince Naveen, Michael Leon Wooley as Louis, Jenifer Lewis as Mama Odie, and the one and only Anika Noni Rose as Princess Tiana. This is especially exciting news since music will be a big part of the experience on Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.
New Retail Store – Eudora’s Chic Boutique Featuring Tiana’s Gourmet Secrets – Opens in Disneyland Park on Sept. 20
At Disneyland park, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will be in New Orleans Square, which allows for the opportunity to tell even more Tiana stories.
An all-new retail store will be opening in New Orleans Square at Disneyland on Sept. 20, 2022, called Eudora’s Chic Boutique Featuring Tiana’s Gourmet Secrets. Tiana is collaborating with her talented dressmaker mother, Eudora, to open this fantastic little shop, with accessories to create and serve masterful Orleans-style cuisine and more.
Disney100 Celebration at Disneyland Resort Kicks Off in Late January 2023
At Disneyland Resort, the Disney100 anniversary celebration will kick off in late January 2023 with special limited-time celebrations taking place throughout the whole year. The Happiest Place on Earth will receive new platinum-infused décor, new sparkling looks for Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and their pals, special food and beverage offerings, and so much more.
Disneyland Resort guests will be dazzled by two all-new nighttime spectaculars: “World of Color – One” at Disney California Adventure park and “Wondrous Journeys” at Disneyland park.
“World of Color – One” will celebrate the storytelling legacy started by Walt Disney a century ago. It will tell a new story of how a single action, like a drop of water, creates a ripple that can grow into a wave of change. It brings some of the most courageous, loving and inspiring characters to life in new ways. The show will also feature a new original song, “Start a Wave.”
And at Disneyland park, Walt’s original magic kingdom will become a magnificent canvas with “Wondrous Journeys,” a new nighttime spectacular that will ignite the wonder in all of us. It will feature nods to all 60 Walt Disney Animation Studios films to date, taking us on a journey filled with artistry, music, storytelling and heart. It will continue to build upon the park’s state-of-the-art projection effects, turning Main Street, U.S.A., Sleeping Beauty Castle, the façade of “it’s a small world” and the Rivers of America into an artist’s canvas that brings characters to life all around you as fireworks dance in the sky. “Wondrous Journeys” will also feature an incredible new song, “It’s Wondrous,” which D23 Expo fans heard for the first time today!
Plus, in the spring, the long-awaited return of the “Magic Happens” parade will debut at Disneyland park. We look forward to sharing many more details about how Disneyland Resort will celebrate the company’s 100th anniversary in the weeks and months to come.
We hope all this news gets you as excited as we are about the many new experiences coming to the Disneyland Resort! As always, be sure to keep your eyes on the Disney Parks Blog for more details and news on these projects in the future.
Disneyland Resort Rings in the Holiday Season with Returning Entertainment and Festive Traditions, Nov. 11, 2022-Jan. 8, 2023
ANAHEIM, Calif. (Aug. 2, 2022) – The Happiest Place on Earth will soon be brimming with festive fun and joyful décor, when Holidays at the Disneyland Resort returns Nov. 11, 2022, through Jan. 8, 2023. During this magical time of year, friends and family will make merry memories together with treasured traditions and distinctly Disney experiences, such as seasonal nighttime spectaculars, transformations of favorite attractions, special food and beverages and more.
At Disney California Adventure Park
Returning this year, the nighttime spectacular “World of Color – Season of Light” wraps guests in holiday magic by fusing cherished holiday music with memorable moments from treasured Disney animated films.
Through energetic live entertainment, culinary delights and special traditions, Disney Festival of Holidays at Disney California Adventure will highlight a diverse season of celebrations, including Christmas/Navidad, Diwali, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and Three Kings Day. Festival marketplaces across the park will serve a hand-crafted menu of delectable foods and beverages. Guests may choose to purchase a Sip and Savor Pass*, which can be shared or used over multiple visits, to taste their way through eight food or non-alcoholic beverage selections from participating marketplaces and dining locations. As part of the festival, guests will also enjoy nightly holiday concerts at the Palisades Stage in Paradise Gardens Park.
The jolly lineup of holiday entertainment continues with “Mickey’s Happy Holidays,” a procession of Disney and Pixar characters dancing and marching along to the upbeat rhythms of the Holiday Toy Drummers. The “Disney ¡Viva Navidad!” street party also returns, featuring Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse donning festive fiesta attire and accompanied by Mexican folklórico dancers and Mariachis, Brazilian samba dancers and percussionists, and giant mojiganga puppets. Guests can encounter Disney characters in holiday attire and, at Paradise Gardens Park, visit with Mirabel from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Encanto.” Santa Claus will once again take residence at his rustic home in the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail.
Disney California Adventure will sparkle with holiday décor throughout, highlighted by a 50-foot-tall Christmas tree in Buena Vista Street and automotive embellishment in Cars Land. The yuletide spirit will shift into high gear with two seasonal attraction transformations: Luigi’s Joy to the Whirl and Mater’s Jingle Jamboree.
At Disneyland Park
Guests will once again share in the merriment of holiday entertainment at Disneyland. Anna, Elsa and Olaf from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Frozen,” along with Mickey, Minnie, Santa and many other friends will celebrate the season in “A Christmas Fantasy” Parade, a daily musical procession of floats, marching toy soldiers, dancing gingerbread cookies and more. Disney characters will greet guests in their finest holiday attire, with some debuting new outfits!
In the evenings, the festivities continue with the “Believe… in Holiday Magic” fireworks spectacular, which features magical “snowfall” and colorful projections on Main Street, U.S.A., and the façade of “it’s a small world.” Families can also dance along with characters such as Goofy, Pluto, Chip ‘n’ Dale and others during nightly holiday dance parties at the Tomorrowland Terrace.
Two beloved Disneyland attractions return with fan-favorite seasonal transformations. “it’s a small world” Holiday takes guests around the world as dolls and toys representing children enjoy the distinctive holiday traditions of their respective countries. In New Orleans Square, Jack Skellington and his friends cause a collision between Christmas and Halloween to transform the Haunted Mansion into Haunted Mansion Holiday.**
Disneyland will be adorned with festive décor, presenting an array of beautiful locations for holiday photos. As they enter the park, guests will be greeted by the iconic 60-foot-tall Christmas tree. Two horror masterpieces come to life in “The Horrors of Blumhouse.” Guests will find themselves trapped between a frantic teen and the ruthless serial killer she’s swapped bodies with in Freaky. Then, they’ll try to make a desperate escape from the dark basement of The Grabber’s “fun” house before they become his latest victim in the terrifying The Black Phone.
Spirits of the Coven
Guests will be invited to a lively 1920s speakeasy, but something sinister is brewing beneath in “Spirits of the Coven.” A coven of seemingly beautiful flapper witches will lure those who enter into a hidden brewing area. Once they’ve ensnared their victims, they’ll reveal their haggish true form and turn guests into a witch’s brew. They’ll be cackling; everyone else will be screaming.
Bugs: Eaten Alive
While touring a 1950s home of the future, guests will be swarmed by hordes of revolting insects after a pest control system failure unleashes them. Many-legged horrors, growing, mutating and laying eggs in human hosts will worm their way into the deepest of fears. Those who dare enter will be dropping like flies in “Bugs: Eaten Alive.”
Fiesta de Chupacabras
The mountains of Latin America are filled with many wonderful traditions. In one tiny village, they pay tribute to the legendary creature Chupacabras with an annual fiesta. In “Fiesta de Chupacabras,” there’s more to the legend than meets the eye. And in this colorful village, the streets are lined with the crimson blood of visitors.
They too do time for their crimes. In “Hellblock Horror,” guests will have to survive visiting hours in a secret penitentiary that houses treacherous monsters and fiends of all kinds that are hell bent on taking over and destroying the world. The interdimensional power core containing the inmates has failed and the monsters are breaking out of their cells, allowing them easy access to guests, and the exit.
Dead Man’s Pier: Winter’s Wake
There’s nothing charming about this ghostly New England fishing village. A phantom sea captain is summoning undead fishermen from their watery grave, a grisly crew with rotting, barnacle-encrusted bodies. Guests may have escaped their hooks in the “Dead Man’s Wharf” scare zone in 2016 – now they’d better batten down the hatches before they’re reeled in and drug under in “Dead Man’s Pier: Winter’s Wake.”
Descendants of Destruction
Deep in the subway tunnels below an abandoned, toxic city, mutated humans fight for survival in “Descendants of Destruction.” The deeper one goes, the darker their fate. In the fading light of the poisoned depths, hideous creatures who’ve long ago left their humanity behind prey on all who try to make their way through the darkness.
FIVE SCARE ZONES
Horrors of Halloween
The Pumpkin Lord, the spirit of Halloween, has returned to take over this year’s event, summoning hordes of fiendish creatures including demons, ghosts and witches. Terror has taken root.
Scarecrow: Cursed Soil
At an abandoned farm, scarecrow sentinels have risen from the crust of the earth to hunt souls and seek revenge. They’ll harvest the screams of those who dare enter this dilapidated barn.
The sweets from Major Sweets’ candy company have turned these 1950s kids into crazed killers. With pint-sized costumed maniacs roaming the streets, Halloween will be a night of trick or treat mayhem.
Graveyard: Deadly Unrest
On All Hallow’s Eve, a dark storm descends upon a cemetery and awakens long-dead spirits. These specters rise from their graves to capture souls for all eternity. No one living can escape them.
Conjure the Dark
An evil sorceress has entered twisted stone ruins and called forth monstrosities from dark dimensions. This Halloween, blood will feed her army of the night.
TWO LIVE SHOWS
Halloween Nightmare Fuel Wildfire
The show that sparked a firestorm last year is ablaze with a new nightmare. Guests can get fired up to the beat of metal, rock and electronica as pyro and aerial performers return to reignite fears.
Ghoulish! A Halloween Tale
As darkness falls, a ghost story becomes reality as guests go beyond the grave in a spectacularly spooky show on Universal Studios’ lagoon, featuring huge water screens and sinister music.

KENANSVILLE, Fla., Sept. 15, 2022 /PRNewswire/ -- Wild Florida Airboats, Gator Park & Drive-thru Safari announces a massive new addition to its facility. Since 2020, the Drive-thru Safari Park has expanded with new land and animals for guests to see. Their latest expansion invites Huckleberry, a new white rhino, to the Wild Florida family! The exhibit opens on September 22nd, in celebration of World Rhino Day.
Originally from another world-class facility in north Florida, Huckleberry, or "Huck", is a two-year-old, 3,500-pound, male white rhino. White rhinos can live up to 50 years old and weigh up to 5,000 pounds!
With only 18,000 white rhinos existing in protected areas and private game reserves, rhinos like Huck are classified as nearly threatened animals. In fact, they are one of only five rhino species that aren't endangered. That's why Wild Florida will pledge a percentage of Drive-thru Safari Park sales to give back to the International Rhino Foundation to preserve wild populations.
"We've worked really hard to create a world-class environment where our rhinos can thrive," says Jordan Munns, co-owner of Wild Florida. "It took a lot longer than we planned, but it was worth it. We're so excited to introduce these enormous animals to our guests."
Wild Florida opened on Lake Cypress in 2010, focuses on educating individuals on Central Florida's natural resources. The Wild Florida team is dedicated to protecting, conserving, and enhancing Florida's diverse ecosystem to ensure that future generations can enjoy the wonders of wild, native Florida. Opening in 2019 and expanding across 170 acres of scenic landscape, the Wild Florida family is excited for the new addition in their Drive-thru Safari Park.
Admission to Wild Florida's Drive-thru Safari Park is $33 per adult and $23 per child, but Florida residents can enjoy more than 150 exotic and native animals for $23 per adult and $18 per child. Admission to the Gator Park is included for any guest who purchases an airboat tour, visits the Drive-thru Safari Park or experiences an animal encounter. TAMPA, Fla., Sept. 13, 2022 /PRNewswire/ -- Busch Gardens Tampa Bay's Howl-O-Scream returns as what will feel like the most horrifying nightmare. This year's event takes over the entire park with five haunted houses, nine scare zones, four sinister shows as well as untold horrors lurking in the dark. Aside from the inescapable haunts, guests can seal their fate in the darkness with nighttime rides on 10 world-class attractions, including the award-winning Iron Gwazi, North America's tallest and the world's fastest and steepest hybrid coaster. Busch Gardens Howl-O-Scream will take place on select dates now through Oct. 31, 2022.
New terrors hailing from the afterlife and iconic frights will even make the bravest souls whimper in fear. Fan-favorite houses such as The Forgotten, Witch of the Woods and Death Water Bayou: Blood Moon - The Final Phase will return, as well as the infamous scare zones including The Junkyard, In The Shadows and Skeleton Crew. These returning favorites are just a few of the experiences that will complement the following fear-inducing new additions:
NEW Haunted Houses
NEW! Stranglewood Estate: The halls and walls of what once was a lively home filled with laughter and lavish parties, have witnessed the pitiful souls that once entered unaware of their inescapable fate. For Madame Gwendolyn, years of torture and torment developed a hatred for the living, including her parents who did not escape her wrath. At the heart of this opulent estate, guests will step into her secret basement room where her servants faced their untimely death in this grim, blood-soaked prison. Welcome to Stranglewood Estate.
NEW! The Residence: Home for the Holidays: Merriment turns murderous at this suburban family home. Christmas arrives earlier than ever this year at The Residence: Home for the Holidays, an all-new house filled with horrors waiting to be unwrapped. Holidays are best when spent with loved ones, but there is no guarantee for guests to survive this silent night.
NEW Scare Zones
NEW! Ravens Mill: Cries of fear and mercy take over the Ravens Mill, a nightmare-cultivating corn field haunting those who venture through these creepy pastures.
NEW! Beyond the Veil: In the depths of a dark dense forest fairies and orcs roam freely as you stroll through this place of shadows. Guests must beware, when walking past Beyond the Veil, they will be faced with demonic creatures of misfortune and malevolence.
Shows and Entertainment
Like rising from the grave, this year's Howl-O-Scream also sees the return of the high-energy and pulse-pounding creatures of the night featured in Fiends along with live musical performances by The Rolling Bones and the death-defying acts and stunts from Cirque X-Scream. The following sinister all-new game show joins this year's entertainment lineup:
NEW! 50/50: Choose Your Fate: At this all-new show, the host will make everyone believe the odds are in their favor when they are not. Fates are sealed long before guests spin the wheel because regardless of choice, the game show host always wins.
Parental discretion is advised after 6 p.m., as Howl-O-Scream contains graphics and amplified scares that are not recommended for children. Howl-O-Scream is a separate ticket event. Costumes are not allowed.
Best Way to Scream and Evil Upgrades
For the most avid Howl-O-Scream fans, Front Line Fear passes are the best way to access all five haunted houses. And for extreme fans, a Front-Line Fear Extreme pass gives access to all haunted houses as well as serving as Quick Queue to scream their lungs out on Busch Gardens' roller coasters, including Iron Gwazi, North America's tallest and the world's fastest and steepest hybrid coaster. Front Line Fear passes start at $69.
To step further into the darkness, an Ultimate VIP Tour grants admission, unlimited front-of-the line access to haunted houses and rides, one-time front-of-the line access to Iron Gwazi, private complimentary beverage locations, free photo & reserved seating at the Fiends show and free preferred parking. A Behind-The-Scenes Tour is also available for guests to see what goes into the scares on a daytime, lights-on experience.
Guests can save up to 55% on admission tickets with a limited time offer available at HowlOScream.com and purchase evil upgrades such as Front Line Fear passes, exclusive tours and many other experiences at this year's Howl-O-Scream. And to stay up to date guests can follow Howl-O-Scream on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and Twitter.
Dark Nights is a frightfully immersive haunt experience that spreads its shadows over the Hersheypark landscape every evening during Hersheypark Halloween, with three scare zones and four spine-tingling haunted houses. Midways transform from enchanting to unnerving and once-familiar spaces mutate into chilling explorations of the unknown. The only thing more terrifying than the dark is what lurks within it.
Dark Nights at Hersheypark Halloween will run Sept. 17 through Oct. 30, 2022 from 6-11 p.m. on Saturdays (and Fridays starting Oct. 14) and 6-10 p.m. on Sundays.
We’re excited to share our next house in the Behind The Haunt blog series, where we dive deeper into the four spine-tingling haunted houses as part of integrated thrill experiences guests can only find in Hersheypark. Each haunted house is themed with its own unique story to frighten guests with every visit.
The four haunted houses:
Who prowls the dark underground tunnels beneath Hersheypark? Follow her into the depths of decay where the only way out is down…
The Descent haunted house occupies only half of the existing Hersheypark catering space in Midway America near Laff Trakk and Wild Mouse. Guests will enter the queue line through the former Merry Derry Dip Fun Slides location and approach the entrance at the south end of the catering tent.
Guests must purchase a separate Dark Nights add-on ticket to experience unlimited access to all of the four haunted houses as many times as they dare during a single visit. Scare Zones are included with a general admission ticket to Hersheypark Halloween.
A general admission ticket to Hersheypark Halloween is required for entry throughout the fall season. Dark Nights haunted houses access is not included with a general Hersheypark admission ticket and must be purchased separately or as part of a bundle. Guests can get to the fear faster with Dark Nights Fast Track program, available to ensure unlimited access to the four new haunted houses on the date of visit.
Having a big sale, on-site celebrity, or other event? Be sure to announce it so everybody knows and gets excited about it.
BUENA PARK, CA – Knott’s Berry Farm and the Knott’s Berry Farm Hotel are proud to announce major changes debuting in 2023. Inside the park, Fiesta Village is being refreshed to further celebrate all the Hispanic cultural influences present in Southern California. The unveiling of the new Fiesta Village includes a reimagined Montezooma’s Revenge. The historic coaster will be renamed MonteZOOMa: The Forbidden Fortress, with an immersive storyline and new surprise thrills for its riders. And next door to the park, every aspect of the Knott’s Berry Farm Hotel — from the front desk and lobby to the guest rooms and hotel restaurant — will be transformed with brand new theming based on the theme park and its founders.
The New Fiesta Village
The new Fiesta Village will reopen in Summer 2023, showcasing enhanced themes and beautiful décor across three new zones in the area. Walking down El Camino Real and entering Fiesta Village, guests will step into brand-new food locations, an updated stage and a redesigned marketplace. The Fiesta Plaza stage will be refreshed to an even grander scale, with theming to match the attached restaurant and new bar. Casa California will be transformed into a completely different dining location with a menu featuring Mexican food items such as made-to-order tacos and burritos. Across from the brand-new eatery is Papas Mexicana, where guests can enjoy fan favorites like carne asada fries and other delicious offerings. The former La Papa Loca location will become Cantina Del Sur, a one-stop shop for specialty beverages. Also in this new zone will be an open street market inspired by the likes of Los Angeles’ Olvera Street. At Fiesta Mercado, guests will find an assortment of merchants and retailers selling items perfect for guests to commemorate their visit to the new Fiesta Village.
As guests leave Boardwalk and head into Fiesta Village, they will enter a zone filled with magical alebrijes. These brightly colored mythical creatures will take over the landscape and transport guests to a dream world inspired by Mexican folklore. While enjoying the scenery, guests can also fulfill their Mexican street food craving at the new taco stand-influenced location Taqueria Fiesta.
Montezooma’s Revenge Reimagination
Opening in 1978, Montezooma’s Revenge was the first flywheel-launched roller coaster in the world and the oldest shuttle loop roller coaster still in its original location. Montezooma’s Revenge has launched millions of guests through Fiesta Village into a gravity-defying single loop track and back again. For 2023, Montezooma’s Revenge is being reimagined and rethemed with exciting new thrills added to this coaster classic. New updates allow guests to be completely surprised by the direction the train will take them at the start of each ride. The randomized launch sequence will make it impossible for anyone to know their destiny until it is too late to escape the clutches of Montezooma. To reach the station and try to escape with Montezuma’s gold, guests will find their way through the fortress protecting the treasure but must beware of the countless boobytraps within. The grounds leading to the temple will resemble a macabre history exhibit as treasure hunters’ remains from throughout the ages line the walls. Now that the traps leading to the gold have been cleared, only those brave enough can make it through the final challenge and find themselves at the home of the hidden Aztec treasure in MonteZOOMa: The Forbidden Fortress.
Knott’s Berry Farm Hotel Renovation
Steps away from the thrills of the theme park, Knott’s Berry Farm Hotel offers accommodations perfect for families ready to unwind after a full day of fun at the park. In 2023, the property will be unveiling a major renovation. The multi-million-dollar investment will incorporate all-new theming with a storyline centered around the park’s founders, Walter and Cordelia Knott. The theme park continues its extensive theming to the resort hotel by creating a space that will honor the love story of the family and their historic roots in the community. Every aspect of the hotel will be transformed, from common areas including the lobby and the pool area to conference rooms and a newly refurbished outdoor event space designated to elevate the experience for both corporate and leisure groups alike. The renovation is set to commence later this year, starting with a complete transformation of all 322 guest rooms.
