‘Tale of the Lion King’ Fact Sheet
ANAHEIM, Calif. – Beginning May 28, 2022, Disneyland Resort will present a new staging of “Tale of the Lion King” – a unique theatrical adaption of Disney’s “The Lion King” – at the Fantasyland Theatre in Disneyland Park. This live stage production introduces all-new set pieces, original musical arrangements and choreography, with every aspect of the show honoring and drawing inspiration from the cultural roots of this timeless story. “Tale of the Lion King” is one of the ways guests can Celebrate Soulfully at Disneyland Resort.
An instant hit with guests of all ages when it debuted in 2019 at Disney California Adventure Park, the show is narrated by a traveling troupe known as The Storytellers of the Pride Lands, who re-enact the tale of how a lion cub became a king through dialogue, song, dance and percussion. As guests rediscover Simba’s journey, they’ll enjoy unique arrangements of treasured songs, including “Circle of Life,” “Hakuna Matata” and “Can You Feel the Love Tonight.”
The show will run Thursdays through Mondays at the Fantasyland Theatre. Guests can check Disneyland.com or the Disneyland app for show times.
A closer look at ‘Tale of the Lion King’
· The show is brought to life by an expanded cast of 20 actors, singers, dancers and drummers. Together, they form an ensemble called The Storytellers of the Pride Lands.
· “Tale of the Lion King” is a story-theatre adaption of the beloved animated film. As the lead narrator Mwongozo recounts Simba’s journey, Storytellers embody the roles of King Mufasa and his brother Scar; young Simba and Nala; and jokesters Pumbaa and Timon.
· Disney Live Entertainment designed new costumes and hairstyles for the ensemble dancers. The new costumes are elaborately designed with inspiration from the story, with details including vibrant colors, layering fabrics and African-styled headwear.
· At the back of the stage is a large screen that sets the mood for each scene with original media created specifically for “Tale of the Lion King.” The screen serves as an additional storytelling device that supports the tale being shared on stage by the ensemble of Storytellers.
· Choreographed by brothers Kevin and Marcel Wilson, this all-new staging of “Tale of the Lion King” incorporates exciting styles of dance such as African, house, stepping, jazz funk and contemporary.
· Among the show’s musical arrangements is an innovative mashup of Simba’s energetic song “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King” and Scar’s stirring warning “Be Prepared.”
· With Swahili as the most popular language of Sub-Saharan Africa and spoken by approximately 50 million people, select Swahili dialogue and lyrics are interweaved into this theatrical production.

ANAHEIM, Calif. (April 22, 2022) – Marking another milestone in its phased reopening, Disneyland Resort today welcomes the return of three fan-favorite nighttime spectaculars: “Main Street Electrical Parade” and “Disneyland Forever” fireworks spectacular come home to Disneyland Park for a limited time, and “World of Color” resumes performances at Disney California Adventure Park. During this special presentation, the “Main Street Electrical Parade” is debuting an all-new grand finale for its 50th anniversary, celebrating the theme of togetherness. Plus, the popular nighttime show “Fantasmic!” will soon return to Disneyland Park on May 28.
“As we approach the one-year anniversary of the Disneyland Resort reopening April 30, we are thrilled to welcome back our beloved nighttime spectaculars and introduce all-new offerings that underscore our incredible momentum and set the stage for much more to come in the future,” said Disneyland Resort President Ken Potrock.
Nighttime spectaculars ignite the night once again
Over the past five decades, the “Main Street Electrical Parade” has brought generations of family and friends from around the world together to delight in its nighttime magic and imagination. Encapsulating that enduring appeal, Disney Live Entertainment is introducing an all-new, grand finale that celebrates 50 years of togetherness and continues the enchantment for a whole new generation of dreamers. This universal theme is reflected in the creative concept of the new finale sequence, and it continues the evolution of this cherished spectacular.
Drawing inspiration from Disney Legend Mary Blair’s iconic art style on “it’s a small world” and the design of classic “Main Street Electrical Parade” floats, these stories are interpreted in thousands of sparkling lights and electro-synthe-magnetic musical sound, with unique representations of beloved characters as animated dolls.
As it passes by, guests along the parade route see a different set of stories depicted on each side of the float, presenting stylized scenes from more than a dozen Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar Animation Studios films such as “Encanto,” “Frozen,” “The Jungle Book,” “Raya and the Last Dragon,” “Aladdin,” “Coco,” “Mulan,” “Brave,” “The Princess and the Frog” and more.
“World of Color” at Disney California Adventure brings animation to life with powerful fountains that create an immense screen of water. Combining music, fire, fog and laser effects with memorable animated sequences, “World of Color” floods the senses and immerses audiences in some favorite Disney and Pixar stories.
Guests will be able to access viewing areas for “World of Color” through a virtual queue system available only via the Disneyland mobile app.* Distribution for the complimentary virtual queue will begin at noon, daily.** Guests with a virtual queue selection should enter the designated viewing area via one of the two marked entrance points (Blue or Yellow), approximately 30-45 minutes before the show begins. How-to details on the virtual queue system are available at Disneyland.com. If the virtual queue reaches capacity, guests can check in with a cast member at the Paradise Bay viewing area shortly before “World of Color” begins for walk-up viewing options. Joining the virtual queue is not required to view “World of Color,” but it is highly recommended. Additional viewing for each performance is located around Paradise Bay on a first-come, first-served basis.
“Disneyland Forever” fireworks spectacular is filled with sparkling pyrotechnics and immersive projections that envelop guests in a breathtaking journey with surprising special effects. Audiences gathered on Main Street, U.S.A., in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle, near “it’s a small world,” around the Rivers of America and within sight of the Matterhorn will each have a different, exciting and immersive perspective of the show.
From April 22 to late spring, “Disneyland Forever” will perform Fridays through Sundays, and the “Mickey’s Mix Magic” projections-only show is scheduled Mondays through Thursdays. “Disneyland Forever” fireworks will then run nightly in the summer.
And celebrating its 30th anniversary, “Fantasmic!” – Disney’s longest-running nighttime spectacular – will once again illuminate the Rivers of America at Disneyland Park beginning May 28.

Universal City, California – July 7, 2022 –The original Jupiter’s Claim set from Jordan Peele’s expansive new horror epic, Nope, will be featured exclusively at Universal Studios Hollywood as a new attraction on the world-famous Studio Tour, beginning Friday, July 22, in tandem with the theatrical release of the new summer event film from Universal Pictures and Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions.
The impressive and elaborate Jupiter’s Claim set was created by Production Designer Ruth DeJong, then carefully disassembled post-production and transported to Universal Studios Hollywood where it was meticulously reconstructed on site, complete with original props and details from the film.
Jordan Peele, alongside producing partner Ian Cooper and Monkeypaw Productions, is thrilled to bring the film’s fictional theme park to Universal Studios Hollywood as a permanent Studio Tour attraction. Concepting the integration of the set to the Studio Tour began early in production in partnership with the filmmakers, working collaboratively with Universal Creative at Universal Studios Hollywood to ensure authenticity and accuracy.
The Jupiter’s Claim set – which can only be seen on the Studio Tour – marks the first time that a Studio Tour attraction has opened day and date with a movie release. It will be staged within Universal Studios’ backlot alongside a host of other iconic movie sets that include Steven Spielberg’s War of the Worlds, the infamous Psycho house from Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho and Courthouse Square from Robert Zemeckis’ Back to the Future.
“I remember visiting Universal Studios when I was 12 years old and being mesmerized. That experience reinforced my passion and drive to someday join in on the meta-magic of ‘backlot life.’ Since then, I’ve been fortunate enough to direct three movies for Universal,” said Jordan Peele. “It is a privilege to honor these collaborations with my studio partners, crew members and cast, and to be able to share Jupiter’s Claim with fans.”
“We’re thrilled to collaborate with Jordan Peele and bring a piece of his innovative film to Universal Studios Hollywood for our guests to experience,” said Scott Strobl, EVP and General Manager, Universal Studios Hollywood. “Jordan’s creativity and ingenuity have produced unique, thought-provoking movies, and we couldn’t be more excited to showcase his original Jupiter’s Claim set as a permanent centerpiece attraction on the Studio Tour, giving our guests a front row seat to authentic movie-making magic.”
Jordan Peele disrupted and redefined modern horror with the Universal blockbusters Get Out and then Us. Now, he reimagines the summer movie with a new pop nightmare. Written, directed and produced by Peele, Nope reunites the filmmaker with Oscar® winner Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out, Judas and the Black Messiah), who is joined by Keke Palmer (Hustlers, Alice) and Oscar® nominee Steven Yeun (Minari, Okja) as residents in a lonely gulch of inland California who bear witness to an uncanny and chilling discovery.
Jupiter’s Claim, set in Southern California’s Santa Clarita Valley, is a family-fun theme park and predicated on the white-washed history and aesthetics of the California Gold Rush. Owned and operated with evangelical pride by former child star Ricky “Jupe” Park, Jupiter’s Claim becomes a pivotal location as the characters seek to investigate mysterious, unexplained phenomena, leading them toward increasing danger and terrifying consequences.
The Studio Tour is renowned for taking guests behind-the-scenes of an authentic movie and television production studio. With the exciting addition of the Jupiter’s Claim set from Nope, coupled with the progressive roll out of electric Studio Tour trams, a summer of fun is just beginning at Universal Studios Hollywood.
Following the success of Get Out and Us, Jordan Peele signed an exclusive deal with Universal Pictures and Universal Studio Group for film and television projects. NBCUniversal has created a vibrant, interconnected brand ecosystem that allows its filmmaking partners to leverage their creative visions through expressions across its broad portfolio, including content throughout the company’s numerous platforms and Symphony campaigns.
The company’s commitment to leveraging its resources to evolve its film and television programming from cultural moments to 365-day evergreen franchises that allow fans to engage through content extensions, branded experiences, irresistible products and games and truly immersive theme park attractions or integrations, resulted in this groundbreaking partnership at Universal Studios Hollywood tied to Nope.
On July 22, fans can experience Nope on its opening weekend at Universal CityWalk’s state-of-the-art Universal Cinema, an AMC® Theater, before heading to Universal Studios Hollywood to see the original set from the film. After all, this is the place to see movies, where movies are made.
